Loose Parts Play
Create a basket of loose parts to expand your childβs play. Loose parts can be collected from around the house, found in nature, or bought new. Some ideas are bottle caps, dominoes, nuts and bolts, pom-poms, buttons, twigs, paper straws, etc. Your child might use the loose parts for pretend play, line them in a row or stack them high, or as accessories in a block creation, the options are endless!
π Exploration
Listening Walk
Shh, weβre going on a listening walk! Take a walk around the block, through a local park, or nature preserve. As you walk, take notice of all the sounds you hear and discuss what they are or make predictions of what they might be. This is a great opportunity to introduce new vocabulary and complex, descriptive sentences- itβs also a lot of fun!
π΅ Opening
Choose a book to read aloud from the list below.
Then, practice the weekβs nursery rhymes, poems, or songs.

π Journal
Choose an Animal
On a piece of copy paper, in a sketchbook, or on the provided journal page write the following prompt: If you could be any animal, what would you want to be? If your child is ready, follow up by asking why they chose that animal or what they like about the animal they chose. Then, ask your child the prompt and record their response. Invite them to illustrate their response and label the picture if they provide any.
