Turn sidewalk chalk into something new in this open-ended chalk lab!
Materials:
- Sidewalk chalk
- Spray bottle with water
- Child-sized mallet or hammer
- Paintbrush
- Bowls
- Cutting board
- Spoons
Instructions:
Gather some broken sidewalk chalk and prepare materials for the chalk lab (check around the house for other items and tools that would be useful). Invite your child to explore what happens to the chalk when they use the tools to pound, scoop, and grind the chalk.
Tip- Keep this activity open-ended! Your child might choose to add leaves, sticks, and other items from nature or they might mix in water to create some chalk paint!
