Hide colored clothespins around the house in this hide & seek spinoff!
Materials:
- Colored clothespins (or use colored tape on regular clothespins)
Instructions:
Gather five clothespins in different colors and hide them around the house by clipping them on various items (the couch pillows, a dish towel, or a shoe). As your child finds each clothespin, clip it onto their shirt and count how many you’ve found each time. Once you’ve found all five, find a place to discuss and learn more! Guide your child on how to pinch the ends of the clothespin to remove it from their shirt (this is a great way to strengthen those small hand muscles). Then, work together to identify the different color names. Invite your child to hide the clothespins for you to find- think aloud as you discover each one, “Oh! I found the blue clothespin on sister’s coat!”
Tip- If you don’t have any clothespins handy, check the pantry! Chip clips work just as well.
Extension- Challenge your child to hide the clothespin on an item that matches in color
