Jump, Throw, and Hop over the lines to get to the other side.
Materials:
Instructions:
Tape 4 horizontal lines of varying length to the floor (like the steps of a ladder). After the final line, create three medium-sized shapes (square, triangle, circle) with the tape. Invite your child to jump or hop from one line to the next and into a shape at the end. Incorporate counting and shape identification as you play- count each hop, comment “You jumped to the square!,” or ask “Which shape will you hop to next?”
Extension- Offer a few bean bags or small stuffed animals and try standing on a line and tossing it into a particular shape. Include some number sense and receptive language- “Stand on the closest line and toss two bags into the circle.” or “Hop two times then toss three bags into the square.”
